Darts ace Peter Manley is set to team up with Bobby George and former Liverpool footballers John Aldridge and Steve McMahon for a special event.

At Anfield on March 1, Cumbrian Manley and George will partner former Republic of Ireland international Aldridge and ex-Swindon, Blackpool and Perth Glory boss McMahon for a unique darts match. The quartet will also take part in a Q & A.

Former world number one Manley, who lives in Carlisle, is looking forward to the event that has been organised by Paul Booth in association with the current Premier League leaders.

Manley said: “I know Bobby, myself and Paul are excited to get through the door at a Premier League club. I have done stuff at Anfield before, but this will be something a bit special.

"Members of the audience will get the chance to play darts, either against or with me and Bobby.

"Everything is set-up for it being an absolutely great night.”

As well as his spell at Liverpool, scoring 50 goals in just 83 appearances, Aldridge also played for Spanish side Real Sociedad, Newport, Tranmere and Oxford United, while McMahon turned out for Everton, Aston Villa, Man City and Swindon as well as the Anfield club.

“They are legends in their own game,” Manley said. “They were both playing when I was growing up and I was able to run around with a football.

“So, it’s going to be something quite special to work with them.”

All proceeds will go to the LFC Foundation, with tickets starting from £55.
