John Sheridan admits he is at a loss as to why Carlisle United’s away record is so much stronger than their form at home.

The Blues’ tally of 16 points on the road is the equal best in League Two.

Only top two MK Dons and Lincoln have taken the same number of points on their travels, United’s fifth away win coming at Swindon on Saturday.

The focus, though, returns to their home record this weekend, where Carlisle will hope to improve a 10-point Brunton Park tally against Forest Green.

Manager Sheridan said: “I couldn’t tell you why [we are stronger away] but every game I go into I’m trying to win.

“It doesn’t matter if we’re at home or away.

“It’s a very evenly-matched division - you think you can go and win every game you play.

“I don’t try and make things tight. If we come away from home I want us to be open and try and cause the opposition problems.

“I think we’ve done that. If you can get the first goal it takes you a long way to winning games, and that’s what we’ve done away from home.”
