Former Super League ace Jamie Foster won't settle for anything less than maximum points in Workington Town's League 1 opener on Sunday as they try to kick off their promotion push in style.

Two years spent away from the game have got Foster itching to be back on the pitch and he has not come out of retirement to settle for mid-table.

"I'm raring to go; I can't wait for this because it's not just been an off-season for me, it's been two years," he said.

"All my family are coming to the game and I'm buzzing to get going.

"We're setting our goals very high this year and we need to breed confidence.

"You do that by winning matches, it's as simple as that really, starting at Keighley.

"I didn't come out of retirement to be getting beat every week, I've come to get promoted, I'm not sitting on the fence.

"I'm a winner, Leon's a winner and it's time this club was on the up."

Training this week has got Foster in confident mood ahead of tomorrow's trip to Keighley, with players looking sharp and a hunger in the squad to achieve something.

Foster added: "We've trained brilliantly and the only blip we've had is the Whitehaven game which we've just put a line through because we had players missing.

"We had a fantastic training session last night and it felt just as good as sessions I've had with some of the best players in the world when I was at St Helens.

"Everyone's pulling in the same direction and no-one's too big for their boots."

Foster missed the Ike Southward Memorial Trophy game against Whitehaven on February 4 but that was just a precaution after he aggravated an old injury and he expects to play tomorrow.
