Carlisle United forward Hallam Hope has earned an international call-up - for Barbados.

Hope has been added to their squad for this Thursday's game against Guyana.

The 24-year-old qualifies for Barbados through his father Russell, who is Bajan.

It gives Hope the prospect of winning a first senior international cap, after he represented England up to under-19 level.

His call-up was confirmed by Barbados FA technical director Ahmed Mohamed.

Speaking to the Barbados Advocate , he said the Carlisle player was one of two additions to their squad for the CONCACAF Nations League game.

"We are at our full strength for what we have. We will get two additional reinforcements and those will be Krystian Pearce from Mansfield Town FC and Hallam Hope from Carlisle United," Mohamed said.

With the Barbados squad due to arrive in Guyana tomorrow, it is likely that Hope's call-up will see him miss some first-team action for United, who have two games this week.

The Blues host Morecambe in the Checkatrade Trophy tomorrow then go to Cambridge in the league on Saturday.

Carlisle have not yet confirmed for how long Hope is expected to be away from the squad.

The international clash is being played at the Leonora Track and Field Stadium in Georgetown, Guyana.

United meanwhile, host Morecambe tomorrow in their first Group A game in the Checkatrade.

Sheridan has confirmed he plans to make some changes to his side, with Sheffield United loan midfielder Regan Slater among those set to start.

"A few people will play, the likes of Regan and one or two others who haven't played too much football," Sheridan said.

"But it's a game I want to win, another good game and a competition we want to do well in.

"It's the best chance we will have of getting to Wembley and winning a cup so we'll take it very seriously."
