Game of Thrones star Kristian Nairn has withdrawn from the new series of Strictly Come Dancing, due to "unexpected medical reasons," the BBC has confirmed.
The 49-year-old was just one of 15 celebrities who were announced for the line-up of the 2025 dancing competition last week, and has said with a "heavy heart" he has had to "step back".
Kristian commented: “With a heavy heart, I have to step back from this season of Strictly Come Dancing due to unexpected medical reasons.
"I was truly looking forward to the journey, and I’m deeply sorry to disappoint anyone who was looking forward to seeing me on the dance floor.

Sarah James, executive producer at BBC Studios, added: “We’ve absolutely loved getting to know Kristian in this short time, and he has all the makings of a brilliant Strictly Come Dancing contestant.
"We’re incredibly sorry to lose him from this year’s series and we all wish him a speedy recovery.”
The new celebrity joining Strictly will be announced on The One Show, on BBC One and iPlayer this evening, from 7pm.

Who is Game of Thrones star Kristian Nairn?
The actor is best known for playing Hodor in the award-winning fantasy TV show created by George R.R Martin.
Kristian's role as Hodor earned him a devoted international following and created one of the most iconic moments in TV history.
Away from acting, Nairn is also a world-renowned DJ, performing alongside the likes of Steve Aoki, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Fatboy Slim, and Danny Howard.
Strictly Come Dancing is back on iPlayer and BBC One in autumn 2025.
