Viewers of Strictly Come Dancing have declared that they think the BBC show is rigged as a fan favourite celebrity was eliminated.

Irish TV presenter Angela Scanlon became the ninth celebrity to be eliminated in week ten of the competition, losing out to Bad Education star Layton Williams in the dance-off.

On Saturday night's live show, Angela was placed at the bottom of the leaderboard with 31 points for Cha Cha to I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor.

Despite performing well throughout Strictly, it was Angela’s turn to face the dance-off following the public vote.

Whist head judge Shirley Ballas wanted to save Angela, fellow judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke chose to save Williams and professional Nikita Kuzmin after they re-performed an American Smooth routine to It’s Oh So Quiet by Bjork.

Strictly viewers declare the show is ‘rigged’

Some Strictly viewers were left disappointed over Angela’s exit as some declared it was rigged.

Taking to X, formally Twitter, one viewer wrote: “This is so rigged. How can nobody see through this sham program?”

As another said: “So so sad to see Angela go. What I bloody loved about her the most? She refused fake tan so she could set an example for her girls.”

One X user said that thought ‘favouritism’ was at play: “Foregone conclusion. Angela and Carlos were better. Getting bored with all the Layton favouritism.”

Another shared: “Aww Angela’s gone, she was a good dancer.”

Others shared they thought it was the right decision for Angela to good, writing: “Don't get me wrong I love Angela & Carlos but there's no way she was better than Layton. How can Shirley say she would've saved Angela when she made a mistake??”

Strictly Come Dancing continues next Saturday, December 2 on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
