Jet2 has issued an urgent warning over a new scam targeting customers.

The airline is one of the most popular in the country and operates out of airports across the UK.

As Covid travel restrictions ease, the company is seeing the number of flights increase by the day meaning more and more people are at risk.

Jet2 issue ‘urgent’ warning to customers

Communicating via its official social media channels, Jet2 tweeted: "URGENT CUSTOMER NOTICE.

"We have been made aware of several customers receiving messages advising to contact (and/or similar) to discuss bookings and queries. These accounts are NOT affiliated to us, so please DO NOT give personal information to them."

"The only official account for and Jet2holidays on Twitter is @jet2tweets which is a verified ‘blue tick’ account."

Update to UK Covid travel restrictions

Last week, the government updated Covid travel restrictions which means fully vaccinated arrivals will no longer need to take a pre-departure test from this week.

By the end of October, post-arrival day-two tests will be a cheaper lateral flow test rather than the current PCR test.

Easyjet claimed the government “missed the boat” by delaying the latest easing of travel rules until after the summer.

Chief commercial officer Sophie Dekkers told the Commons' Transport Select Committee: "In terms of sales over the weekend, they did pick up but not to the extent that we've seen in previous announcements because we've missed the summer.

"October half-term is probably the only big opportunity for people in the near term, so although we saw a good uplift in trading and sales over the weekend, we've missed the boat unfortunately with the summer holidays.

"There is still a question around the need for the day-two test."
