A new branch of Domino's Pizza looks set to be opened in Whitehaven.

A building on Tangier Street is expected to house the branch of the international takeaway chain.

Planning permission has been agreed for the subdivision of the Ali-Taj Indian restaurant building; half will remain as the Ali-Taj, whose business will be unaffected by the change, and a currently unused section of the restaurant converted into Domino's.

Copeland council has granted planning permission – and listed building consent – for the conversion to an agency acting on behalf of Domino's.

When it opens, the Whitehaven branch will be the second Domino's to arrive in west Cumbria, following the soon-to-be-opened outlet on Campbell-Savours Way, Workington.
