A man has admitted attacking a another man who was found seriously injured near a Carlisle pub.
Reece Green, 24, faced two charges when he appeared via a video link at the city's crown court today.
Green admitted causing grievous bodily harm with intent to Thomas McMillan on August 4; and also admitted damaging property belonging to Bridie Gallagher on the same date.
Police said three days after the incident that the victim, a 56-year-old man from Carlisle, was in a "serious" condition at Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary. It was said that he had suffered a cracked skull.
He was found injured in the early hours of the morning close to Gallaghers pub, Botchergate.
In court, Green, of Fernlea Way, Carlisle was told he would be sentenced on a future date still to be fixed.
In the meantime he was remanded in custody by Judge Peter Davies.
