An 80-year-old man was taken to hospital following a crash on a busy Cumbrian route.

The Roadhead man, who was driving a blue Skoda Roomster, sustained chest injuries when he was involved in a collision with a grey Vauxhall Zafira on the A7 on Saturday.

The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident, which happened at Sandysike.

Police, who were called to the scene at 1.50pm, said the man's injuries were minor.

The Vaxhaull was driven by a 34-year-old woman from Longtown.
