Daniel Gill, 21, was subject to two suspended prison terms when officers called at his Orton Road home in Carlisle. One was imposed for a vicious street attack during which he repeatedly punched another man who was left with a burst ear drum.
On July 17 he was abusive to police who entered his city home. “Do you think you will get me out of the house?” he was said to have asked officers. “I would like to see you get me out.”
As one PC believed he would be head-butted he struck out at Gill, who admitted a charge of resisting or obstructing a PC, and breaching his previous two suspended jail terms.
Defence lawyer Ian Hudson said: “He has ADHD, he kicked off and that’s it.”
Judge Peter Davies responded: “He interfered with police officers in the execution of their duty. I don’t regard that as ‘that’s it’.”
Gill was told his suspended sentence orders would continue, but was jailed for two days.
Judge Davies told him: “I am not prepared to have people treating police like that.”
