A CARLISLE fish and chip shop has been forced to close temporarily following a fire.
Crews from the city's East and West Fire Stations were called to the Fryery in Newtown Road at about 3.30am yesterday morning.
Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said it was a wheelie bin fire which spread to the building and caused damage to a freezer.
The Fryery, which only opened last month, said on its Facebok yesterday page: "Unfortunately due to a fire we will be closed over the next few days we are hoping to be back up and running next week."
There were no reports that anyone was injured as a result of the fire.
