Motorists face an overnight closure of the A66 after poor weather delayed barrier installation.

The road will close in both directions between Kemplay Bank and Temple Sowerby from midnight to 6am on October 25.

This is part of advance works for the A66 Northern Trans-Pennine project between Kemplay Bank roundabout and Brougham.

Barrier installation was delayed on Wednesday, October 14 because of poor weather.

Crews will also work on the central reservation over three weekends, with lane closures in both directions.

Closures are planned from October 23 to October 26, October 30 to November 2, and November 6 to November 9.

Vegetation clearance will continue overnight using localised lane closures.

Additional noise is possible, and drivers are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time.

Contractors said they would keep disruption to a minimum and thanked road users for their patience.
