A SCAM impersonating Amazon is targeting residents across Cumbria.

Police in Allerdale are warning people across Cumbria, including Workington and the Penrith area, to remain vigilant after reports of fraudsters claiming to be from the online retailer.

The scammers say a payment is pending and attempt to obtain personal information, identity documents, gift card codes or access to devices.

A police spokesperson said: "Please share this warning to help protect vulnerable members of our community."

Officers urge the public to check on elderly or vulnerable relatives, friends, and neighbours.

If in doubt, hang up and contact your bank using a trusted number or call 159.

For police, call 101.
