A Whitehaven man has been fined and given penalty points after speeding on the A595 in Holmrook was caught by camera.

Cemal Altun, 56, of Duke Street, Whitehaven, admitted to driving his Iveco vehicle in excess of the 30 mph limit on the A595 at Holmrook on December 21, 2025.

The offence was detected by an automatic camera device and was contrary to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Altun pleaded guilty on September 23, 2026. The court took this plea into account and reduced the fine from £60 to £54.

He was ordered to pay £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and a £76 surcharge.

Altun’s driving record was endorsed with three penalty points. He must pay the total amount by October 22, 2026.

The court issued a collection order for payment.
