People are being encouraged to download the NHS App to help manage their healthcare more easily.

The "Tap the App" campaign aims to boost usage across the North East and North Cumbria by reminding users to download the app, enable notifications, and regularly check their messages.

Dr Neil O'Brien, chief medical officer at the NHS North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board, said: "We all lead busy lives, so anything that makes managing our healthcare a little easier can help.

"Downloading the NHS App and turning on notifications means you’ll know when there’s a new message about your care."

The app allows users to order repeat prescriptions, view health records, manage appointments, and receive messages from GP practices and hospitals.

Rebecca McIntosh, head of digital transformation at the ICB, said: "If you haven’t downloaded it yet, we’d encourage you to give it a try.

"The NHS App puts more of your healthcare at your fingertips."
