AN Egremont driver has been banned from the road for 18 months and ordered to pay more than £2,000.
Jamie Forrester, 34, of Central Avenue, was found guilty in his absence at West Cumbria Courthouse of driving with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the legal limit.
The offence took place on November 13, 2025, on the A595 at Silecroft.
Forrester was driving a Citroen Berlingo when he was found to have seven micrograms of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (cannabis) per litre of blood in his system.
Forrester entered a not guilty plea on April 27, 2026, but was convicted on August 7, 2026.
He was disqualified from driving for 18 months and ordered to pay a fine of £2,375.
The fine includes £650 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and a £950 surcharge.
A collection order was issued, and he was told to pay the amount in monthly instalments of £500, starting from September 15, 2026.
Forrester did not attend the hearing.
