A handyman from Keswick is marking his 50th birthday by taking on a 160-mile cycling challenge.
Andy Nichol, known locally as 'ANDIY', will take on the Border Reiver Cycle Route to raise funds for the Lake District Calvert Trust.
Mr Nichol said: "Turning 50 seemed like a good excuse to set myself a serious challenge.
"The Border Reiver route is going to be tough but knowing that I'm raising money for Calvert Lakes makes every mile worthwhile."
The challenge will begin in Keswick and will take Mr Nichol through scenic and demanding routes into Scotland, combining a personal milestone with a fundraising effort for a cause close to his heart.
As part of the journey, Mr Nichol will stop at Watchtree Nature Reserve, where the Lake District Calvert Trust hosts its accessible fleet of bikes.
This scheme gives people with disabilities and additional needs the chance to enjoy cycling using specially adapted bikes.
During his visit, he will meet members of the team and see first-hand how the charity’s work is making cycling more inclusive.
Mr Nichol said: "I'm particularly looking forward to stopping at Watchtree and seeing the fantastic work they do to make cycling accessible to everyone."
Cole Kelly, community fundraise at Calvert Lakes, said: "We’re absolutely thrilled that Andy has chosen to take on this incredible cycling challenge in aid of the Lake District Calvert Trust.
"Fundraising challenges like this make a real difference to our work, helping us keep the cost of our courses as low as possible so that more people with disabilities can experience the benefits of outdoor adventure.
"We’re hugely grateful to Andy for taking on this challenge and can’t wait to follow his progress and hear all about his three-day journey."
Mr Nichol has set a fundraising goal of £1,000 and is encouraging support from friends, family, businesses, and the wider community.
