DIRECTORS of North Cumbria's health trust have responded to plans to change the NHS board boundaries, arguing that the existing arrangement should remain.
North East and North Cumbria NHS Integrated Care Board (ICB) and NHS England are consulting on a proposal to change the health boundaries.
The plans could see Cumbria's NHS commissioning boundaries altered to more closely match that of the newly established Cumbria Combined Authority.
Directors of North Cumbria Integrated Care (NCIC) were asked their view on a county wide health boundary and have previously considered the idea.
A spokesperson for NCIC said: "The Board have previously considered this and come to the view that on balance it would be in the best interest of patients to maintain our relationship with the North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board rather than realign to the South Cumbria and Lancashire ICB.
"We await the outcome of the consultation," they said.
