Rugby players have been taken on a tour of West Cumbria, in a tour which aims to give fans a chance to see a different side to some the Workington Town team.
Workington Town RLFC prop forward Grant Reid and club chairman Graeme Peers, took fullback Zarrin Galea and Bear Williams, another prop forward, on a tour of West Cumbria, whilst the players discussed their childhood, who’s best friends with who, and who’s the tightest.
The tour gave fans a chance to learn more about the players’ childhoods and friendships, and who's the tightest in the squad.
Graeme Peers, club chairman, said: "They are really good lads and we had a fun day taking them around the sights of West Cumbria.
"But I had to turn back on the outskirts of Whitehaven – there are some places they don’t need to see."
One stop included Born & Bread in Maryport, where Galea – in proper Aussie slang – asked for a "sanga" instead of a sandwich.
The video revealed attempts to make out the Isle of Man, a debate about whether pigeons are real, and a forfeit after a game of catch.
Williams, who was born in Paddington, sparked debate about whether pigeons are real, while Galea’s shorts worn back Down Under at Christmas led to some laughter over questionable dress sense.
Joe Storey, head of brand and marketing at Fibrus, said: "It was great to see them enjoying themselves and getting to know the area.
"We’re all about connecting communities, so helping the players learn a little more about their community, as well as the community learning more about them, is great."
He added: "It must feel a very long way from home so it’s nice for them to get properly settled in and seeing what West Cumbria has to offer – great sangas – while revealing a bit about themselves to the fans."
