An illuminated trail walk is set to light up the night in support of hospice care.
Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw have launched their brand new Glow Trail fundraising event, which will take place at Lowther Castle and Gardens on Saturday, September 12.
The event aims to raise vital funds to support essential end-of-life care for local adults, children and families.
Eleanor Viney, head of income generation at Eden Valley Hospice, said: "Glow Trail is a very special opportunity for our community to come together for an evening that is uplifting, memorable and full of meaning.
"Whether someone takes part to remember a loved one, support their local hospice, or simply enjoy a magical experience with family and friends, every step they take and every pound they raise will help us continue providing compassionate care to local families when they need it most.
"We would love to see the community get behind this brand-new event and help us light the way for hospice care."
Registration opens at 6pm, with the walk beginning at 8pm.
The trail covers two gentle laps totalling up to 6km with illuminated glow features, live entertainment and dedicated remembrance points along the route.
Entry is £20 per person, with under-12s able to take part for free.
The entry fee covers the cost of running the event, while all additional donations and fundraising will directly support hospice care services.
Participants will receive a fundraising pack, including event guidance and a remembrance ribbon to dedicate to a loved one.
Additional opportunities to personalise the experience will be available, including T-shirts and space to write messages in memory of those being honoured during the walk.
The event is designed to help people reflect, remember and celebrate loved ones while raising funds.
All money raised will help Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw continue delivering care to local adults, children and families living with life-limiting conditions.
The majority of the hospice’s funding comes from the community, with 80 per cent of running costs covered by donations and fundraising.
Only 20 per cent of its funding comes from the NHS.
A spokesperson for Lowther Castle and Gardens said: "2026 marks the year when the castle returns to the world of staging events and we are delighted that one of our first will be the Eden Valley Hospice/Jigsaw Glow Trail.
"We are keen to show our support for important local charities and look forward to a moving and uplifting occasion where the past and present combine to do something good for the future."
Glow stations will be set up to help participants get ready, and the Lowther Castle and Gardens café will be open for light refreshments during this time.
Registration for the Glow Trail is open until August 31.
