A pair of Lake District landmarks have been highlighted among the UK’s most beautiful views, as new research reveals the country’s most picture-perfect locations.
Buttermere and Castlerigg Stone Circle both feature in the national top 20, underlining Cumbria’s enduring appeal for visitors seeking dramatic scenery and iconic backdrops.
The survey, which placed London’s Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament at number one, found Britain’s most memorable views are often defined by their striking silhouettes and postcard-worthy settings. While city landmarks dominated the top spots, the inclusion of Lake District locations reflects the continued pull of the region’s natural beauty.
Buttermere, ranked 13th, is famed for its mirror-like waters framed by fells, offering one of the most photographed scenes in the national park. Meanwhile, Castlerigg Stone Circle, near Keswick, placed 18th, with its ancient stones set against a panoramic mountain backdrop proving a favourite with visitors and photographers alike.
The research, commissioned by Samsung ahead of its Galaxy Unpacked event in London on 22 July, also highlights how social media is shaping travel habits — with nearly half of respondents saying they have visited a place after seeing it online.
A quarter said they would post a scenic view within hours of discovering it, while younger people are increasingly planning trips around locations they have seen on social platforms.
Across the UK, other highly ranked views included Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland, Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh and St Michael’s Mount in Cornwall. Natural landscapes such as Durdle Door in Dorset and Glencoe in Scotland also proved popular.
