Explorer Scouts in Cumbria are set to begin a new programme to help teens develop practical skills for modern life.
The refreshed programme is designed to help teenagers build real-life skills and confidence.
Targeted at 14 to 18-year-olds, the updated Explorer Scouts scheme has been designed to blend practical skills with creativity, leadership, and adventure.
Chief Scout Dwayne Fields, said: "As Chief Scout, I get to regularly meet our Explorers and I am constantly in awe of their resilience, curiosity and love of the outdoors.
"Despite the rise of smartphones and increasing pressures that I never faced as a teenager, 14-18 year-olds still want a place to belong, opportunities for independence, but most importantly, to have fun.
"That’s why I’m so proud to be launching the new Explorer Scout programme.
"This new programme reflects what our Explorers have told us they want - modern skills for life, with a whole load of adventure."
The refreshed programme introduces 40 new or updated badges, including 11 brand new options.
Among them are Content Creation, Democracy, and Employability, supporting skills from building a CV to producing accessible digital content.
The Scouts says outdoor adventure remains 'prominent' in the programme, with activities such as camping, climbing, and water sports.
