Cumbrians planning a summer day out won’t need to travel far, with an award-winning farm shop less than an hour from Penrith offering food, shopping and family-friendly attractions.

The Mainsgill Farm Shop has won the award for the best farm shop or deli in Yorkshire at the Muddy Stilettos Awards.

Every year, the Muddy Stilettos Awards allow businesses across England, Wales, and Scotland to put themselves forward for a range of categories, including best bar or best afternoon tea in their region.

The entries are then whittled down to a handful of finalists, who are then voted for by the public.

What can you expect from the Mainsgill Farm Shop?

Found on Moor Lane, which is only a 23-mintue drive away from Darlington, Mainsgill Farm Shop has a huge range of products on offer, including fresh meat, cheeses, and baked goods.

On the farm shop’s website, it says: “Our ground floor farmshop is brimming with the finest local and unique foods.

“Stocked full of local produce fresh from our home reared produce and made by us in house. If we can’t make it ourselves, we’ll source it from the best local and regional suppliers.

“This results in us supplying Yorkshire and beyond with quality tasty food you really can trust, knowing it has been made or grown with the highest standards and welfare possible with all the goodness kept in.”

There are plenty of fruits and vegetables to pick from to create your own dishes, as well as pies, sausage rolls, and cakes to treat yourself to.

If you are looking for a gift for someone, you can create a hamper personalised to the tastes of the person you are buying for.

You can also take a walk through the gift hall and clothing department, where you can find cushions, pottery, and kitchenware to add a bit of colour to your home.

What else can you do at Mainsgill Farm Shop?

As well as the farm shop, the site has other things to experience, including enjoying a breakfast, a hot meal, or a sweet treat at the Mainsgill tearoom.

If you love animals, you might want to spend some time walking around the farm to say hello to the farm animals, as well as some more exotic options such as camels and ostriches.

What do visitors think about the farm shop?
