A new rail service is set to boost long-distance travel options for passengers.
Lumo has launched a Stirling-to-London Euston route, which will benefit travellers from Dumfriesshire and beyond, with trains calling at Lockerbie.
Dumfriesshire MSP Craig Hoy welcomed the service during its inaugural journey and said it would “give passengers greater choice, lower fares and more flexibility for both business and leisure travel.”
Mr Hoy said: "Lumo is introducing four daily return services between Stirling and London Euston, with trains calling at Lockerbie, Carlisle and several major destinations across the UK.
"For residents in Dumfriesshire, the route marks a significant improvement in long-distance rail connectivity, with Lockerbie passengers gaining additional direct services to London, Preston, Crewe and Milton Keynes."
The new service is expected to start at under £30 between Stirling and London.
Mr Hoy said the increased connectivity could benefit the wider region.
He said: "There is also real potential for a boost to the local tourism economy, with improved rail access through Lockerbie helping attract more visitors to Dumfries and Galloway."
