A NEW training centre is set to boost support for the next generation of automated farming.
Lely Center Longtown has opened a new office and training facility at the Sandysike Industrial Estate, near Longtown, in an event on Thursday, April 30.
The new site will support its work across Cumbria, Northumberland, County Durham, Yorkshire and Lancashire.
David Henderson, director at Lely Center Longtown, who co-founded the business in 2009 alongside Mark Armstrong, said: "Opening this new facility is about investing in our farmers and our staff.
"As more farms look to automation to improve efficiency, cow wellbeing and day-to-day consistency, it is vital that the support around that technology is strong, local and reliable.
"This site allows us to bring our team together, improve how we support farms before, during and long after install, and create a space where farmers can come, learn and feel confident in the decisions they are making for their business."
Lely Center Longtown is part of the global Lely network and supports dairy and beef farms across the North of England.
The new facility includes modern office space, expanded storage, and dedicated training areas for both engineers and customers.
It reflects growing demand for robotic and automated farming solutions including milking, feeding, and barn cleaning systems.
Neil, of Buckabank Farm, said: "Working with the Longtown team’s been really good.
"It’s not just the engineers – you’ve got the Farm Management Support team there as well.
"They help you make sense of the data from the robots, and that means you’re always improving, getting more out of the machine and keeping the cows right."
Lely Center Longtown has held Lely Gold status since 2018 and was recently recognised with an Improved Sales Growth Award.
The new facility will help the business support even more farms as automation continues to grow in the industry.
