Cumbria Scouts have appointed 'Fell Foodie' Harrison Ward as their new county ambassador.

The outdoor cook and mental health advocate is known for cooking restaurant-quality meals in remote outdoor settings using minimal equipment.

As part of his new role, Mr Ward will judge the Cumbria Scouts county cooking competition this June at Great Tower.

Mr Ward said: "I’m really proud to be joining Cumbria Scouts as a County Ambassador.

"Getting outdoors and learning practical skills has completely changed my life and I’m passionate about helping others experience the same benefits.

"I’m especially looking forward to meeting the young people at Great Tower and seeing what they can create, outdoor cooking is all about having a go and enjoying the moment."

The event will bring together Scout and Explorer Scout teams from all six districts to showcase their creativity, teamwork, and outdoor cooking skills.

Mr Ward will also spend time speaking with young people, offering advice, and encouraging them to try outdoor cooking.

Eddie Ward, Lead Volunteer for Cumbria Scouts, said: "We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Harrison as our new County Ambassador.

"His passion for the outdoors, combined with his honesty about mental health and his incredible cooking skills, makes him a brilliant role model for our young people.

"We know he’ll inspire them to try new things, build confidence, and enjoy everything that Scouting has to offer."

A spokesperson for Cumbria Scouts said: "Harrison’s own journey, from overcoming mental health challenges to finding purpose in the outdoors, strongly aligns with Scouts’ focus on building resilience, confidence and wellbeing in young people.

"His appointment highlights the positive impact outdoor adventure can have on both physical and mental health.
