Households across England are set to see council tax bills rise again from April after every top-tier local authority confirmed its increase for the 2026/27 financial year.
All 153 councils have now set their council tax increases.
Most areas are raising tax close to the 4.99% limit allowed without a referendum, though some councils will increase bills by significantly more.

Biggest council tax rises this year
Seven councils were granted permission to raise council tax above the usual cap.
The biggest increases include:
- North Somerset Council, 8.99%
- Shropshire Council, 8.99%
- Worcestershire County Council, 8.98%
- Trafford Council, 7.49%
- Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, 7.49%
- Warrington Borough Council, 7.48%
- Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council, 6.74%
Lowest council tax rises
A small number of councils approved much smaller increases.
These include:
- Hartlepool Borough Council, 1.98%
- Durham County Council, 1.99%
- Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council, 2.00%
- Merton London Borough Council, 2.00%
- Wandsworth London Borough Council, 2.00%
- City of Westminster, 2.00%
