A 'rage room' is coming to Carlisle to give people the chance to smash their frustrations away.

The limited-time experience is going to offer adults the opportunity to destroy electronic equipment in a 'safe and controlled' environment.

Organised by Fibrus Broadband, the event aims to help people blow off steam..

Colin Hutchinson, group managing director of Fibrus, said: "Let’s be honest—few things make people want to smash something more than their broadband provider suddenly hiking the price halfway through a contract.

"At Fibrus, we believe customers deserve better than that, which is why we guarantee no mid-contract price hikes.

"But if you’ve been stung by other providers in the past, a visit to the rage room might be the perfect way to let off a bit of steam."

The event, the first of its kind in Cumbria, will take place on Wednesday, April 1 at a secret Carlisle location, with sessions starting at 4pm.

Participants will have around 15 minutes inside the 'rage room' to smash old laptops, keyboards, routers, and other electronics using baseball bats.

'Rage rooms'—also known as smash rooms—originated in Japan in the late 2000s and have since become popular worldwide as a way to relieve stress.

The experience is being delivered in partnership with Smash Space, which operates a rage room in Newcastle.

A spokesperson for Smash Space said: "Rage rooms give people a chance to release stress, frustration or just have a bit of fun in a safe environment.

"Whether you’ve had a tough week at work, want a unique activity with friends or simply fancy trying something new, a rage room is all about letting go for a few minutes.

"Come along on 1 April, give it a try and find out how good it is to let off some steam."

The event is strictly for adults.

All participants will receive a full safety briefing and be provided with protective gear.

Applications are now open for the sessions, which have limited spaces, and will close at 5pm on Monday, March 16.

Applications can be submitted at www.fibrus.com/rageroom.
