Dozens of students are taking part in a leadership placement scheme across Cumbria.
A total of 76 teenagers across the region are participating in the Dream Placement programme during half-term, gaining industry experience in sectors such as engineering, nuclear, tourism, renewable energy, and the arts.
Organised by the Centre for Leadership Performance, the scheme aims to introduce 16 to 18-year-olds to real-world leadership and workplace skills.
Sarah Glass, executive director at the Centre for Leadership Performance, said: "Cumbrian companies have once again stepped up to connect businesses and young people through meaningful placements that provide opportunities for them to see leadership in the workplace, and help.
"Businesses gain from the experience by getting young people’s perspectives on some key challenges facing their organisations, and enabling ambitious and committed young people to discover what the county has to offer for their futures.
"Importantly, with every placement, every conversation, every opportunity, they are investing in the people who will shape our communities, our industries, and our region’s future."
This year, more than 130 young people were shortlisted from nearly 300 applicants.
Candidates participated in a selection day at Energus, involving business problem-solving and networking activities with representatives from 32 companies.
