A MALE voice choir is appealing for new members to help keep its tradition alive.
Whitehaven Male Voice Choir currently has 20 members but aims to reach 30.
Gerard Richardson, Deputy Lieutenant for Cumbria, said: "The choir are a really great bunch and would welcome anyone who wants to pop along on a Thursday to St Gregory's Church next to Argos on Quay Street for a trial."
Formed in 1977, the group has supported events including the 2008 visit by Her Majesty the Queen and the maritime festivals.
The choir has also raised thousands of pounds for charity over the years.
Past donations have been made to the Great North Air Ambulance, the Blind Society, Macmillan, and West Cumberland Hospital.
The choir's chairman, Chris Parrish, said: "Anyone interested doesn’t need to worry about their ability to read music as that’s not required, I would welcome people popping round to see what it’s all about and to chat with the team."
Those interested can pop along on a Thursday to St Gregory's Church next to Argos on Quay Street for a trial or contact Mr Parrish on 07790942593 or at chrisjosephp@icloud.com.
