A 27-year-old man was arrested after a vehicle collided with a bridge in West Cumbria.
Police were called to Station Road in Aspatria at around 4am on the morning of Sunday, June 9 to reports of a one vehicle collision.
The driver of the vehicle, a black Audi Q5, was arrested shortly after on suspicion of a positive breath test but he has been subsequently released under investigation.
The collision caused major damage to the historic bridge and caused disruption on the Workington to Carlisle train line.

“The collision involved one vehicle, a black Audi Q5. The vehicle collided with the railway bridge, causing damage to the bridge.
“A 27-year-old man, from the Carlisle area, was arrested on suspicion of a positive breath test. He was later released under investigation.”
