A POPULAR fashion boutique in the heart of Carlisle officially welcomed a new owner last week.
Sharon Bewley has taken over the business from Susan Bowes, who recently retired after 17 years working in the shop on Warwick Road.
Genevieve of Carlisle has provided women with outfits for special occasions and weddings since the 1950s, and Sharon is now hoping to continue its success, after officially starting on Monday, June 3.
She said: "It has always been a dream of mine to own a shop in the wedding industry and when I saw the advert for Genevieve of Carlisle, it was too good an opportunity to miss.
"The business has history dating back to the 1950s and I am so pleased I can carry on the legacy and hopefully continue to be just as successful as the previous owners."

With a background in accounts and customer facing roles, Sharon is hoping to ensure that any customers have a positive experience in her shop.
She added: "I would love Genevieve's to continue to give customers the experience that you don't always get on the high street and I think it is important for the city of Carlisle to have local independent shops on their doorstep so they don't have to travel far for their special outfits.
"I understand how important it is for mother of the brides, mother of the grooms and wedding guests to feel special on a wedding day or event.
"My aim is to ensure that customers feel comfortable coming into the shop to try the variety of outfits that we offer with no obligation or pressure."

Sharon has also received a lot of support and help from previous owner Susan, and her mother, during her first week in the role.
She concluded: "I have been really lucky to have Susan's support before, during and after the handover. She has shared her experiences and has been introducing me to the suppliers she has traded with over the years.
"She will also support me in London in July, with the next buying season, which is very exciting."
