STRIKES which may have caused shortages of Walkers crisps and Kellogg’s cereal packets have been suspended after the company put forward an improved pay offer.
About 100 workers at Amcor Flexibles in Workington were set for industrial action on May 29, June 1 and June 2 strike over the company’s six per cent pay offer.
Amcor Packaging specialises in flexible packaging production, particularly for the food industry, including for the Walkers and Kellogg’s brands.
Workers are currently being balloted on an improved offer.
If the offer is rejected, strikes scheduled for June 5 and June 9 will take place.
Unite regional officer Ryan Armstrong said: “Following an improved offer from Amcor, Unite has suspended strikes in order to ballot its members on the new offer.”
