Cumberland Council have confirmed that roadworks will be in place on the A595 until late June.

Carriageway improvement works will begin on the A595 New Mill to Gosforth Cross Roads on Tuesday May 28 and are expected to finish on Friday June 28.

There will also be an evening road closure in place.

Works will take place from between 7pm until 5am, each evening, from Monday to Saturday.

From 7pm and 10pm, vehicles will be able to travel through the site with escort assistance but delays of up to 30 minutes may occur. Cumberland Council suggest that the site team will do their best to minimise these delays.

From 10pm to 5am the entire site will need to be closed with no access for the public.

Access for emergency vehicles, under blue lights, will be maintained.

A temporary road closure will be taking place, with a signed diversion route.

Cumberland Council said: "If you have any questions, please either chat to the staff on site, or contact the Highway’s Hotline at 0300 373 3736

"We appreciate your support and patience during these works and apologise for any inconvenience and disruption caused."
