A DISABILITY and arts charity’s new exhibition by an artist and neurodiversity advocate aims to show the world more about who he is after a mental health crisis.
‘Faith, Art, and Me’, by 33-year-old Carlisle artist JYMA, was launched on May 20 and welcomed the attendance of High Sheriff Chris Holmes, and Carlisle mayor Abdul Harid at Carlisle Cathedral.
His first solo exhibition, JYMA said he created the collection over the past decade ‘after a period of mental health crisis’, and credits faith and art as ‘being ‘essential’ in his recovery.
The launch coincides with Creativity and Wellbeing Week 2024, a space to celebrate the benefits that creativity can have on our mental health and happiness.
The exhibition is open during Carlisle Cathedral’s opening hours from May 21 to June 2.
