A WOMAN received medical treatment after slipping on a muddy path on the way to 'look at the waterfalls' in the Lake District.

Keswick Mountain Rescue Team were called to Stanah at 2:20pm today, May 22 following an emergency services call made by the woman's partner.

In a statement, Keswick Mountain Rescue Team said: "The recent spell of sunny weather abruptly ended with a day of non-stop rain. A woman on her way to look at the waterfalls in Fisher Place Gill slipped on a muddy path causing a painful ankle break.

"Her partner managed to make a call to the emergency services from Stanah and the team attended.

"Strong pain relief was provided and an ankle reduction attempted. You don’t often see umbrellas on the hills but it was usefully commandeered to protect her from the rain during the stretcher carry to the ambulance."
