Cumbria residents are being reminded of the services available to them over the bank holiday.

Some offices, including Carlisle’s Civic Centre, Cumbria House, Allerdale House in Workington, and Market Hall in Whitehaven, will be closed on May 27.

Residents, however, can still reach the council's online services through their website.

The main customer contact, 0300 373 3730, will close at 4pm on May 24, resuming after the bank holiday at 9am on May 28.

In case of any out-of-hours emergencies, the number will have a recorded message containing the needed contact numbers.

The council's waste and recycling collections will remain unchanged for the bank holiday, as will be the case for household waste recycling centres.

However, the permit helpline will not operate on bank holiday Monday, and is closed on weekends.

The Highways Hotline, 0300 373 3736, will not be available on May 27, but an answering machine will provide the emergency contact details if called.

The council's highways webpage can be used to report issues relating to highways including potholes, damaged roads, flooding, and streetlights.

Residential and home care services operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

On May 27 the Adult Social Care offices will not be open.

The social care out-of-hours emergency service, reached at 01228 526690, will be available throughout the day for any adult social care emergencies.

Children's services offices will be closed on May 27, but for any children’s social care emergencies, the emergency duty team can be reached 24 hours a day on 0333 240 1727.

The archive centres in Carlisle and Whitehaven, and all libraries, will be closed on May 27.

However, digital resources like e-books and digital magazines remain available on the online library platform.

The registration service will also be off-duty on May 27, along with Cumbria Trading Standards’ Consumer Direct helpline.
