Embrace the new season with Daniel Thwaites’ four-star inn, The Royal Oak in Keswick. Whether it’s a spring-inspired Sunday lunch or a two-night mid-week getaway, now’s the time for longer days and (hopefully) nicer weather.

Sunday night getaways

Beat the Monday blues and escape for a Sunday night break this spring. Check-in, unwind and enjoy a glass of wine – or a pint of Thwaites ale - before heading out to explore the local area.

Outstanding in its beauty, discover the very best of Keswick’s charm, bustling market square and spectacular landscapes that command the area. Take to the water of Derwentwater, walk magnificent routes or discover the town's many attractions.

Discover the lake's four main islands: Lord’s, Derwent, St Herbert’s and Rampsholme with three smaller ones as well. Or why not wander along the Derwentwater Walk for 10 miles of glorious views around the lake's edge?

Taste the season

For hungry little eaters with big appetites, they also have an action-packed children’s menu.

Traditionally, Sunday is a day of rest, so it makes perfect sense to let the inn’s team of chefs do all the hard work. Whether it’s a quick re-fuel or part of a longer staycation, Sunday lunch is always a good idea. Packed full of tempting flavours and locally sourced ingredients, the offering includes a choice of different cuts and of course, they have all the traditional trimmings, from homemade Yorkshire puddings to a medley of seasonal vegetables*.
