A man remains in a ‘critical condition’ after suffering burins from an explosion yesterday (May 13).

At 2.50pm, police were contacted by the Northwest Ambulance Service (NWAS) who had received a report of 'an explosion at a brewing facility' off Calva Brow in Workington.

Multiple residents in nearby Seaton reported hearing a loud bang.

Police said a man suffered serious burn injuries, and issued an update on the road closure last night at 7.33pm to say the road had reopened.

The News and Star contacted the police this morning (May 14) for an update on the man’s condition.

They said he remains in a ‘critical condition’ and is in hospital.

The business, named Tractor Shed, is a brewery that makes craft beer.
