CUMBRIA Police have been teaching children about safety when travelling to school.

Officers visited a primary school in Workington to educate the pupils and give them a safety talk.

A spokesperson said: "This afternoon PCSO Rachel has met with the school council at Ashfield Infant School in Workington.

"The school council pupils want to raise awareness about their safety whilst walking to and from school.

"We have been out and had a look at the location of the 'mansion gardens' as pupils are reporting parents driving fast down the lane and not considering the children's safety.

"PCSO Rachel and the pupils have some plans to try and help with the issues and keep everyone safe."
