IN this edition of nostalgia we are looking back at Brampton Bowling Club throughout the years.
Brampton Bowling Club opened all the way back in 1761, meaning it has just celebrated its 263rd birthday. The club has a long history in Cumbria, making it one of the oldest Bowling clubs here.
Back in 1961, to celebrate the 200th birthday of the club, members held a celebration. Those who attended dressed in clothing that represented the years dating back to 1761, when it was founded.
Mr F.N Allason, president of Brampton Bowling Club at the time, welcomed T.L Sibson, president of the Cumberland County Bowls Association to the event.
The club which is nestled on Howard Arms Lane, continues to function and hold 'Come & Try Bowls days' to encourage people to get involved.
