CUMBRIA Police have stated rules around responding to antisocial behaviour complaints.

Officers in Eden have said that when they respond to these types of reports from a property, they can issue a closure notice.

A police spokesperson said: "When the police or local authority receive complaints of anti-social behaviour from a property they can issue a CLOSURE NOTICE.

"A closure notice can be obtained for the following reasons.

"A person has behaved in or is likely to behave in disorderly, offensive or criminal behaviour on the premises.

"The use of that premise has resulted in or is likely to result in serious nuisance to members of the public.

"A closure notice is used to prevent the ASB from continuing or recurring.

"Eden police are committed to tackling anti-social behaviour and will use all avenues open to us to do this.

"This week we have been working hard on presenting the evidence to take to court for a closure order in Penrith.

"If you are experiencing issues with ASB you can call us on 101 or report online on the Cumbria Police website."
