A Cumbrian man has raised more than £1000 for his local swimming pool after news emerged of its struggle with the cost of living crisis.

Wigton Baths Trust have been hit hard by the rising cost of bills, with gas prices increasing from around £900 a month to over £3000.

They are now appealing for help from the community to help fund new tiled walls, which will help to insulate the building, which was built in 1901, far better, and reduce costs.

On Saturday April 6, Raymond Milburn organised an 80s disco event at the Greenhill Hotel in Wigton, to raise vital funds.

Speaking to the News & Star, he said: "We managed to raise £1120. When I saw the charity appeal that Wigton Baths Trust put out, I wanted to help out because it's a place that is used by so many local people. It's somewhere that I went as a kid, and now my grandkids are going."
