Carlisle Racecourse have named Hospice at Home Carlisle & North Lakeland as their official charity partner for 2024.

Corporate fundraiser for Hospice at Home Kylie Palmer said: “Over the years the Racecourse have supported to ensure free care and support to patients and families in their own home is available when needed, they have donated over six thousand pounds since then either by supporting events or donating a raffle prize.

"Last year the wonderful team at Carlisle Racecourse even joined us for our Summit at Sunset challenge when we climbed Blencathra! The support they have shown and continue to show is amazing and we are extremely grateful to be their official partner for 2024."

Hospice at Home volunteers will be at various events hosted by the Racecourse in 2024. These events will be fantastic for helping to raise awareness, talk to people about ways you can get involved, and of course raise vital funding.

The Hospice at Home fundraising team were there for the Easter Saturday Family Raceday, along with wonderful and committed sunflower volunteers and mascot Hugo the Herdwick Sheep.

Jenny Urwin, Hospice at Home fundraiser said: "It was such a fantastic day. The spectators were in fabulous form and their generosity was awe inspiring.

"Thank you to everyone who took the time to speak with us or kindly donated and also to our avid volunteers who make this possible."

As well as cheering on your favourite horse on the Home Straight, the donations on the day will support our clinical teams to ensure home care is available when needed in the community.

Carlisle Racecourse manager Helen Willis said:  "We are delighted to continue our support for Hospice at Home Carlisle & North Lakeland by making them our charity of the year for 2024 in order to provide many fundraising opportunities for them throughout the year whilst raising awareness of everything they do for the local community.

"It was fantastic to see the launch of this on our Easter Saturday Family Raceday with many customers engaging with their mascot Hugo and the other volunteers who joined us on the day."
