A Cumbrian charity has opened a new gift store in Brampton.

Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland, the charity that provides palliative care and end-of-life support across Cumbria, opened the new shop on Thursday, March 18.

The store 'A Novel Gift' opened next to Hospice at Home's existing bookstore on Brampton's Market Place and according to manager Zoe Armstrong combines antique and charity shops.

She said: "Our volunteers made the shelves and people volunteered to make the units and decorate.

"People donate such beautiful things and they deserve to be displayed as you would see them in the home.

"That's what we have taken inspiration from and have almost set small scenes around the shop.

"I guess it's a charity shop meets antique shop which, for Brampton high street, is fantastic because it fills another shop."

The new shop is welcoming donations, however, due to its display-focused style will send items such as shoes, clothes, and handbags to its larger charity shops across the county.
