NOMINATIONS are now open for the News & Star's brand new 'Best Cafe 2024' award.

In a bid to celebrate Cafe culture in North and West Cumbria, the News & Star has launched its new competition which will crown the county's 'Best Cafe 2024'. 

As part of the competition, News & Star readers can now nominate their favourite cafe from North and West Cumbria via an online voting platform.

Online nominations will run between Monday, April 8, and Friday, April 12, with the ten finalists being revealed on Monday, April 22. 

Readers will then be able to vote for their 'Best Cafe 2024' by picking up editions of the News & Star between Monday, April 22, and Saturday, May 4, with the winner set to be announced on Monday, May 13.

Speaking after the online nominations for the News & Star's 'Best Cafe 2024' openedJoy Yates, regional editor for Newsquest Cumbria highlighted the importance of recognising local cafes.

She said: "Cafe culture plays such an important role in our community, providing lovely environments for people to meet and socialise and enjoy the wonderful refreshments on offer. And our cafes are certainly among some of the best.
