A Cumbrian man has received support from Carlisle United as he prepares for the trip of a lifetime this summer.

David Kershaw, from Brampton, is set to ride 5,000 miles to Africa and back on his scooter this year to raise money for local and national charities.

Back in September 2023, he completed the North Coast 500-mile challenge to raise money for Great North Air Ambulance and Blood Bikes.

On June 28, he will set off on his 5,000 mile round trip on his 125cc scooter, known as 'Pepper', in the name of charities Blood Bikes Cumbria, the Sick Children's Trust and DocBike.

Last month, David and Peter Laidlaw, a director in the British Motorcycle Federation who will also be undertaking the mammoth journey, met with members of Blood Bikes Cumbria at Brunton Park.

Carlisle United offered their support to David, with first team players Anton Dudik and Alfie McCalmont joining in with the pictures.

You can follow David's journey through 12 countries in just 18 days on his YouTube page 125cc_alive and donate to his GoFundMe page here.
