A Carlisle Fire Station has raised over £2,000 with a charity car wash.

The charity event, which saw firefighters from Carlisle East Fire Station wash local cars, took place on Saturday, March 30, and saw the station raise £2,138 for The Firefighters Charity.

This coincided with other car washes that took place across Cumbria in support of the charity which 'helps all serving and retired members of the UK's fire families live healthier and happier.'

News and Star: On Saturday, March 30 a charity car wash in Whitehaven raised approximately £1,000 whilst in Kendal a further £652 was raised.

Following the charity car washes across Cumbria, a spokesperson for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service reflected on its successful fundraiser.

"Carlisle East Fire Station hosted the busy event on Saturday, and despite having two call-outs during the day, there were 170 cars washed.

"A total of £2,138 was raised for The Firefighters Charity, which offers lifelong support to the UK’s firefighter community.

"The event was organised by the station’s Blue Watch and was supported by the service’s Fire Cadets and volunteers from across the station and the wider Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service.

News and Star: "The station extended thanks to all who supported the event."

The latest fundraisers were also held as part of a national Mega March of car washes for The Firefighters Charity and followed car washes held at Ulverston, Windermere, Penrith, and Cockermouth earlier in the month.

From these various charity events, Cumbria Fire and Rescue raised over £6,00o for charity.
