IN this edition of nostalgia we are looking back at Wigton Bowling Club throughout the years.
Wigton Bowling Club held its opening Day Sunday April 27 in 1986 on West Road in Wigton, where it remains today.
The admission programme for the opening day states 'By David Bryant and Willie Wood and their team of internationals'. The admission with the programme was also only £1.00.
The bowling club has a successful history, one of their first achievements is becoming Couty triple winners in 1990 when Carole Studholme, Kathleen Baxter and Margaret Christie all won.
Some of the clubs recent successes include the range of 2023 club champions who play at Wigton. These include D Baxter, M Turner, D Hodgson, M Haney, K Westwood, P Peile, B Coates, P Nolan, K Baxter, A Dalziel and D Saul.
